In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of Suminagashi paper marbling and letterpress printing. This Japanese marbling technique uses only ink, water, and wind to create beautiful, airy designs. Each piece of marbled paper is completely unique. Participants will then use their marbled paper as a ground for letterpress printing. The workshop will cover the basics of working with handset historic wood type and printing from it. Everyone will leave with two custom prints and a good understanding of both marbling and letterpress printing.
