On View: at the FATVillage Projects November 10 - December 11, 2018
SPF South Florida is pleased to present Pushing the Pull, an exhibition featuring the work of thirty artists whose artistic practice pushes the boundaries of printmaking. Through a series of print-driven works, Pushing the Pull celebrates both the tradition of printmaking and its contemporary applications by showcasing its diversity in execution and evolving potential. Whether working within relief, intaglio, artist books or installation, the selected works echo the recursive and cyclical nature of printmaking; using layer, reduction and transformation as an integral part of the process.
While print has always been rooted in a long history of innovators, contemporary processes turn the tradition on its head, introducing digital approaches and renewing age-old techniques by printing on and with alternative materials and tools. Whether they carve it, scratch it, mask it, transfer it, multiply it or discover it; Pushing the Pull forms a collective perspective that lays claim to the rich vitality of contemporary fine art printmaking.
